Learning the twenty phrases changed how people responded to us for the rest of the trip. Weaving with Ketut's mother was the highlight.
Two things make a visit to Bali different: being able to greet someone properly, and understanding the small palm-leaf trays on every doorstep.
Ketut teaches both in one afternoon. The first hour is language — not grammar, just the twenty phrases that actually matter, in both Indonesian and Balinese, with the levels of politeness explained so you know when to use which.
The second half is weaving. You cut and pin your own canang sari from young coconut leaf, learn what each flower colour points to and why the direction matters, and place your finished offering at the family shrine. Ketut's mother teaches this half and does not speak much English, which turns out not to matter at all.

Wayan and The team arranged everything so well and made us feel very comfortable throughout the journey. He always will send quick response and clear doubts.
